The video is a collaboration with JDC West, a BCIT club that flies out to calgary for an intense and dynamic three-day competition where teams such athletics, finance, and entrepreneurship compete with schools from all across the region. For the 2024 event, the theme was “Through the Eras”, and our team embodied the resilience of the 1940s. an era often defined by traditional gender roles and limited rights for women.
We decided to take a bold, feminist approach, flipping the narrative by reversing the traditional power dynamics of the time. In our story, women were placed in roles of authority and leadership and decision-making. Through this reimagining, I wrote the story to challenge historical norms while celebrating progress and equality, tying the concept to the innovative and forward-thinking spirit of JDC West.
